The Prairie High School girls volleyball team came into the 3A state tournament with grit and determination last week. After earning their entry into the state tournament, the first time the team accomplished the feat since 2018, the girls lasted one day. Prairie lost its first match against Bellevue, 0-3, on Nov. 17 at the Yakima Valley SunDome. The Falcons were later eliminated in a knockout round against Seattle Prep, 1-3.

By being a bonafide fire protection association in Idaho, the Mountain Home RFPA will be eligible to apply for grants from the IDL for firefighting equipment. Ranchers hope to preserve sage-grouse and chukar habitat on rangelands surrounding Mountain Home by responding to fires quicker. Over the winter of 2012, several Mountain Home ranchers contacted the Idaho Department of Lands and the BLM about working together to stop wildfires.
Using a private-public partnership model developed in Oregon, the agencies helped the ranchers form Idaho’s first Rangeland Fire Protection Association. The MHPD is always accepting applications and interest cards for various positions in the department to include police officers. Interest cards for positions are available in the lobby of the police building and if you fill one out, you will be contacted for scheduling at one of our quarterly testing dates.

Other fire information webpages, such as Inciweb, may only report on incidents that threaten structures or cover large acreages. The Idaho Fire Map displays fire information about all reported wildfires in Idaho. The Mountain Home RFPA will work on adding more firefighting resources to their arsenal and work together with IDL and the BLM to extinguish range fires.
